Overview

The CieID app allows users to access online services provided by the Public Administration and private entities participating in the "Entra con CIE" program. To activate CIE credentials (level 1 and 2), users need to visit www.cartaidentita.it, open the app, and configure simplified access. From there, users can authorize their access from a PC by scanning the QR code on the access request page and entering the CieID app code created during device certification. Alternatively, users can enter their CieID credentials (username and password) on the access request page and receive a push notification in the app that they need to accept using the CieID app code or biometrics. When accessing online services from a smartphone, users can authenticate using their CieID credentials or by entering the CieID app code in the app, with the option to use biometric recognition if available. For users with an Android 6.0 or later smartphone equipped with NFC technology, they can choose to access services with the highest level of security (level 3) by registering their electronic identity card in the app and entering the eight-digit PIN while placing the card on the back of the smartphone when prompted. The CieID app also offers a PUK recovery feature for citizens who have associated their electronic identity with an email address or mobile number.
