The Darkness is a looming threat to the continent of Akaros, a land of abundance. To protect against this danger, players must gather the Heroes of various tribes and form a strong defense. The game features unique Heroes from different tribes, each with their own hidden abilities that players can train. In addition, players can collect growing maps that aid them in defending the kingdom. The game offers a variety of battlefields and powerful traps, including a monster from beyond the ice wall and the arm of a god that appears through a portal to push enemies away. Players can also collect Protectors that hatch from tiny eggs and possess the power to turn the tide of a battle.

The game offers different styles of combat, including the Frontier, the Arena, the Grand Arena, and the Tower of Trials.
