Dr.Web Security Space is a comprehensive mobile security solution designed to protect Android devices and Android TV platforms from a wide range of threats. It offers a suite of features aimed at ensuring device safety, data integrity, and user privacy. The core of the protection lies in its anti-virus capabilities, which include quick and full file-system scans, as well as custom scans for specific files and folders. This ensures that all areas of the device are regularly checked for malicious software. Real-time file system scanning provides continuous protection, monitoring files as they are accessed or modified to immediately detect and neutralize any threats. A particularly notable feature is its ability to neutralize ransomware lockers, even those not yet recognized by Dr.Web's virus databases, thanks to the unique Origins Tracing™ technology. This is crucial in preventing data loss and eliminating the need to pay ransoms to cybercriminals. Detected threats are moved to a quarantine area, where they can be safely isolated and, if necessary, restored. The anti-virus settings are password-protected, adding an extra layer of security to prevent unauthorized modifications. The application is designed to minimize consumption of system resources, ensuring that it does not significantly impact device performance or battery life. Regular virus database updates are kept small to economize traffic and reduce data usage. The application also provides detailed statistics on its activities and a convenient widget for the device's home screen, offering quick access to key information and settings. In addition to its anti-virus capabilities, Dr.Web Security Space includes a URL filter that blocks access to websites known to be sources of infection. This filter can be configured to block entire thematic categories of websites, such as those related to drugs or violence, providing an additional layer of protection against online threats. Users can also create whitelists and blacklists of specific sites, allowing for customized control over web access. For example, parents can configure the application to allow access only to whitelisted sites, ensuring that children can only visit approved websites. The Call and SMS Filter provides protection against unwanted calls by allowing users to create whitelists and blacklists of phone numbers. This feature works with two SIM cards and offers an unlimited number of profiles, allowing for customized filtering based on different situations or needs. The settings for this component are also password-protected to prevent unauthorized changes. The Anti-theft component helps users locate their mobile device if it has been lost or stolen. It allows for remote management of the device using push notifications from trusted contacts, enabling users to lock the device, wipe confidential information, or activate a loud alarm to help locate it. The geolocation feature allows users to track the device's location on a map. The settings for the Anti-theft component are also password-protected to prevent unauthorized access. These components collectively provide a robust security solution for Android devices, protecting against a wide range of threats and ensuring user privacy and data security. The integration of these features into a single application makes it a convenient and effective tool for maintaining the safety and integrity of mobile devices.
Parental Control in Dr.Web Security Space offers tools to manage application access and prevent tampering with the application's settings. This is particularly useful for parents who want to restrict their children's access to certain apps or prevent them from changing the security settings. The settings for Parental Control are password-protected, ensuring that only authorized users can make changes. The Security Auditor feature provides troubleshooting capabilities and detects security issues or vulnerabilities on the device. It gives recommendations on how to eliminate these issues, helping users to keep their devices secure. The Firewall component in Dr.Web Security Space is based on VPN technology for Android, which allows it to work without requiring superuser (root) rights on the device. This is a significant advantage, as rooting a device can void its warranty and introduce additional security risks. The firewall filters the external network traffic of applications installed on the device and system applications in accordance with user preferences. It can be configured to filter traffic based on the type of network (Wi-Fi or cellular) and customisable rules, such as IP addresses, ports, or entire networks. The firewall monitors current and previously transmitted traffic, providing information about the addresses and ports to which applications are connecting and the amount of inbound and outbound traffic. It also provides detailed logs for analysis. The VPN technology used by the firewall does not create a VPN tunnel and does not encrypt Internet traffic, ensuring that device performance is not significantly impacted. The accessibility feature in Dr.Web Security Space enhances the protection provided by the Anti-theft, URL filter, and Parental Control components. When accessibility is enabled, Dr.Web Anti-theft protects data more reliably, the URL filter checks websites in all supported browsers, and Parental Control manages access to applications and Dr.Web settings more effectively. Dr.Web Security Space is available for a free trial period of 14 days, after which a commercial license must be purchased to continue using the application. The commercial license is available for one year or longer.
