Overview

The 'Emergency +' app is a powerful tool developed by Australia's emergency services and government industry partners. It allows users to quickly call Triple Zero (000) in case of an emergency and accurately communicate their location to emergency call-takers. The app also includes other important numbers such as SES and Police Assistance Line, ensuring that non-emergency calls are directed to the appropriate number. By using the app's GPS functionality and what3words, callers can provide their exact location information to emergency services, even in areas with no data coverage or in remote locations.

When using the 'Emergency +' app, it is important to stay focused, relevant, and on the line when calling Triple Zero (000). The app is designed to assist in situations where someone is seriously injured, in need of urgent medical help, or when life or property is being threatened. By answering 'Yes' to any of these questions, users can make a free call to Triple Zero (000) and receive the necessary assistance.

One of the key features of the app is the integration of what3words, which divides the world into 3m squares and assigns each square a unique three-word identifier. This allows callers to quickly and accurately confirm their location to emergency call-takers. The use of what3words is particularly useful in areas with no mobile coverage or when data is not available. However, it is important to note that if there is no mobile coverage on any network, it will not be possible to reach the Emergency Call Service via a mobile telephone.
